On Monday, May 8, we had our second Fraternal Meeting. We desire to see a Minister’s Fraternal in the St. Louis area which reflects the values and teachings of the Southern Baptist Founder’s Conference. In saying this, we welcome ministers that may not be Southern Baptist, but who hunger for Reformation and Revival in today’s church. Dr. Don Whitney from Midwestern Baptist Seminary spoke at our May 8th meeting. He dealt with the topic of Church Discipline. Great material was presented on the subject and tremendous practical wisdom was conveyed by Dr. Whitney. Much discussion accompanied the instruction. Back in February, at our first meeting, Dr. Robert Peterson from Covenant Theological Seminary spoke to us. Dr. Peterson, who is Professor of Systematic Theology at Covenant spoke on the Biblical doctrine of adoption. He is working on a book which will deal with the doctrine of adoption from a Systematic perspective. Covenant Seminary is in the St. Louis area and is the official Seminary of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA). Our group was organized by 4 men: Todd Greer from Oak Hill Baptist Church; Joseph Braden from First Baptist Church of St. Peters; Slade Johnson from Hanley Road Baptist Chruch; and John Greever from First Baptist Church of Fenton. The format for our meetings are “brown bag” lunches. We get together about 10:00 am, pause for lunch together and wrap things up by 2:00 pm. Our next meeting is scheduled for August 28, 2000.
