JANUARY 20 - 23, 2022

The church of Jesus Christ is a pillar and buttress of the truth.

And that truth is under assault. If you want to bring down what stands atop a pillar, then strike hard at the pillar. That is precisely what is occurring. The old hymn was right, “Though with a scornful wonder men see her sore oppressed, by schisms rent asunder, by heresies distressed.” Some do not see this attack upon the church of God. Others see it and choose to ignore it. Still others would try to manage the assault rather than militate against it.

What we need are Christians, and especially church leaders, who are willing to follow our Lord in resisting these satanic attacks and storming the very gates of hell in the fulfillment of our commission to make disciples. What we need—what we desperately need—is a renewed sense of the church militant and triumphant.

We indeed do not wage war against flesh and blood, but we do wage war. Our war is against the rulers and authorities in the heavenly places, the cosmic powers over this present darkness.  The weapons of our warfare are the sword of the Spirit, the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness, and the other armor God Himself supplies.

If the church does not see her duty to fight, and to fight with full confidence of our ultimate triumph, then we will be tempted to be complacent as truth of God is under assault in our day. Most certainly, “His truth abideth still” and “His kingdom is forever.” But the exaltation and advance of that truth in our generation requires the church on earth to stand firm in the evil day and confidently engage the battle that providentially is before us.

Praise be to God that the church is not her own foundation! “The church’s one foundation is Jesus Christ her Lord.” Christ is the faithful cornerstone. He will supply His church with what she needs to press on victoriously in the battle of reformation.

Join us at the Founders 2022 Conference: Militant and Triumphant as we consider the church’s mission in our day, remembering that “the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds” (2 Corinthians 10:4).
