Merry Christmas! In this special holiday episode, Tom and Jared talk about why it’s good to celebrate Christmas.
Thankful for the discussion. My observation was that it seemed you both initially didn’t observe Christmas due to there not being any biblical command or example of the celebration of Christ’s birth, yet the reasons you gave that caused you to begin celebrating it were more from a human/cultural reasoning as opposed to a biblical conviction. Does that not concern you?
Not at all. If it is neither commanded nor forbidden then it is a matter of Christian liberty. We intended to make that clear. If someone observes it, let him do so in honor of the Lord; if someone does not, let him not do it in honor of the Lord.
Thanks for the reply. I suppose the way you both stated that you didn’t celebrate Christmas initially due to not finding a biblical command or example made me think you were regulative principle folks. If you initially were looking for biblical examples or commands in order to celebrate it, then why did you change your criteria from needing a biblical reason to just claiming that it was Christian liberty because God didn’t say you couldn’t?
